Gweal Mellin Cider Co was born to create beautiful handcrafted ciders to excite the taste buds and quench the thirst.
In 2017 former landlord Nick decided to explore his love of cider while repurposing the small amount of family land at Gweal Mellin near Constantine.
What started off as a dream quickly became reality with the planting of a 383 tree Orchard at the site in 2017. Later in that same year we made our first batch of cider using apples from Lantallack Orchard near Saltash.
From there we’ve grown bit by bit and now produce; three variations of our flagship Cornish Farmhouse Cider, Apple Juice, Cider Apple Vinegar and most recently our Coxswain’s Own, This cider is named after Nick’s Great Great Grandad James Hill, The Coxswain of Porthoustock lifeboat.
We pride ourselves on an ethical approach to business; including; planting trees, using no pesticides or herbicides, keeping bees, offering a refill service and we’re still trying to improve.
